Blended Vitamin C booster with ginger & turmeric

Ingredients

  • hot water 2 mugs

  • turmeric powder ¼ teaspoon

  • ¼ teaspoon cinnamon powder ¼ teaspoon

  • small ginger piece, grated

  • juice of 1 lime

  • small satsumas 1-2

  • honey (ideally manuka honey) 1-2 teaspoons

Method

Blend together the following ingredients on high speed for around 10-15 seconds until smooth.

Navratri has to be one of my favourite festivals, nine days of garba (a traditional festive Indian dance), and while I have only been a few nights so far, it’s been such a hectic week that I feel rather run down. It might be something to do with walking out into the cold night after dancing, sweating and with a somewhat bare back. I woke up yesterday with swollen glands, but made it to garba last night, which was incredible… and then this morning, my legs a little stiff from all the dancing, I was craving something tangy and citrusy. I squeezed lime into a mug, added honey and hot water, and then, seeing two small satsumas in the fruit basket, decided to make something a little different. I blended it all together with ginger, cinnamon, turmeric and satsumas. The result was just what I needed – lots of lemon and orange with cinnamon sweetness and a real ginger kick. Hot, blitzed and easy to drink.
